GETTING TO KNOW ME

Silly Samina or “Sami” was named after a Pakistani mountain climber after witnessing her impressive climbing skills at only nine weeks old. She was jumping and climbing things long before her siblings. Sami, like her siblings, has such a loving temperament. She loves her people and loves to be held and cradled like a baby. She will sleep in bed with you. At times, she will meow at your feet to be picked up and held and has been known to cry if she can’t find her people. She also shows extra affection to the cat-friendly resident dog. If you work from home, you can expect some interruptions and lap time. You can also expect a fair amount of maintenance with this girl. She has a medium length silky coat that will need combing in order to avoid matting. Luckily, Sami enjoys being combed with a long-tooth, stainless-steel comb. Her eyes have some drainage that need daily wiping. Sami is very good about eye wiping and having her nails trimmed.

Sami and her siblings get a variety of canned wet food (rabbit/chicken/turkey) for breakfast and dinner, along with free choice dry kitten food. Sami and her siblings are all masters at using the litter box using large, open boxes filled with low-dust and frangrance-free, clumping litter.

As with all her siblings, Sami is not a dominant kitten and is very respectful to the resident cats. She has been raised with a small cat-friendly dog. She plays with people and with the other kittens from her litter. Once comfortable (and expect this to take a bit of time), she is going to require she be an integral part of the family.

Sami loves a good game of rough and tumble play thunderously chasing with her siblings up and down stairs and down halls, but she also loves to play on her own pushing springs and plastic rings across the floor. Kittens do best in pairs so her new home must have an age and energy appropriate feline companion. This would be another non-dominant, sweet kitty or two like herself. Or her new family might consider adopting one of her siblings. They all get along fantastic and really enjoy one another’s company. A cat savvy kid 12+ would be okay. A dog that would respect and ignore her would likely be fine with slow introductions. Being on the docile and timid side, Sami would not thrive in a loud and busy household or with a child that would chase her.

Starting out in a room as basecamp with introductions and access to the home should be at a speed acceptable and safe for Sami and other pets in the home. Please do your research on proper introductions. It can often take up to 3 months for a cat to feel fully comfortable and integrate into a new family. Patience and understanding is of utmost importance.
