GETTING TO KNOW ME
Purry is a gorgeous, silky-soft blue point mitted ragdoll. She has baby blue eyes that wander just a bit due to her blindness. She has her claws, is very friendly and playful. Her coat is luxurious, very thick and will shed so regular combing is a must. Her right eye is a little weepy at times but needs no ongoing meds and is not bothersome to her.
Purry became blind when she reacted to an inappropriate anesthesia during an attempted spay surgery. This happened long (likely years) before she came in to rescue. She has been spayed since coming to PurrHarmony using appropriate monitoring and appropriate anesthesia. She had zero problems during that surgery and came through with flying colors. We believe that the original attempt to spay her left her nearly blind and with some neurological issues that will be with her for the rest of her life. This does not pose any difficulty for her. In fact, it really makes her more endearing.
Purry walks with a high step like a show pony. She races around her foster room and seems to be the happiest kitty alive. She loves to smash jingly or crunchy balls around and will chase them for hours. She loves wand toys! Purry is very friendly and is not afraid of much. But she can be pushed around by dominant kitties. It is hard not to smile around her. She is filled with joy all the time.
During her time in foster care, adopters for OTHER kitties met her and everyone wanted to take her home. She met some respectful children who lived with cats. Purry was great with them.
If you have never owned a blind cat, you will learn that they do quite well. They learn to map out their environment and quickly learn where to find their litterbox. food and water. They do their best in an environment that is stable. Chaos and changes are confusing for them. Toys constantly laying around or furniture being moved around is hard for them. It would be hard for Purry too.
Purry will do fine with another cat or dog who ignores her or is very gentle. She would be fine as a single kitty too. She should have access to multiple litterboxes. (A litter box in the basement only is not appropriate for her.) She is fine with her litterbox but the more space she has access to, the more boxes she should have as well. Purry has large open boxes with unscented clumping litter. She will not be a counter surfer.
She loves laying on top of a scratching lounger or on top of boxes. She could climb a cat tree.
