GETTING TO KNOW ME

Patches is a striking brown and black classic tabby American Shorthair with the most darling grumpy face. She’s not grumpy though, she’s a purring sweetheart. Her amazing coat is best viewed and appreciated when the sunlight hits it and you see brown with cream and swirls of caramel colors so warm and just waiting to be pet. Patches will shoulder dive to a belly-up position for a very gentle belly rub while looking at you with slow blinks. She enjoys wand toys and catnip toys but is very sweet at playtime.

Patches would appreciate a kind feline companion and would be okay with a respectful dog or cat savvy kid over 8 years. Patches would be okay as an only cat, but her people must be home most of the time to give her the attention she needs. She joined PurrHarmony with her American Shorthair roommate Crystal who is also available for adoption and they are a wonderful pair. Crystal’s bio is also published.

Patches has a pretty easy coat but as with most short haired cats she will shed, combing should be ongoing and nail trims about every 3-4 weeks. She is currently eating Honest Kitchen dehydrated(wet) cat food for breakfast and dinner. She has great bathroom habits and uses a large, open top litter box with unscented, scoopable litter. The usual litter box husbandry applies, one box per cat plus an extra, and if your home is a multi-level dwelling, a litter box on each level is recommended(who wants to run for a bathroom).

Patches may start off shy so absolutely start out in a comfy room as base camp with introductions being at a speed acceptable to the other pets in the home and Patches. Introductions should only go as fast as the slowest pet is comfortable. Slow, patient and steady is a set-up for long-term success.
