GETTING TO KNOW ME
Larry is a cutie-patootie with a complex personality! Larry is quite the extrovert with a dash of spice for excitement and to keep you on your toes. He can be a BALL OF ENERGY with a strong desire to kill the wand toy and grab your feet when he doesn’t want you to leave. He does curl up in a lap and allow soft foot rubs when a person sits on the floor with him. He enjoys his super soft donut bed and chatting with his people. We believe with continued direction and patience he’ll be an amazing and attentive companion.
Before joining PurrHarmony, Larry was a stud male at a cattery and never learned how to speak or understand cats or humans very well. It’s taken time for us to understand him and for him to start understanding humans better. Young kids would not be appropriate because he’s still learning how to read people and learn what’s appropriate and not. He is growing out from a lion-cut and he has a nice combination of silky and cottony coat. Nail trimming isn’t a problem with Churu once you have his respect and you build trust. He does love food and his churus!! His eyes are easy to maintain as far as Persians go with occasional wiping with saline solution or eye envy being no problem.
Larry eats Honest Kitchen dehydrated food or canned wellness for breakfast and dinner and loves the stainless-steel water fountain. He also enjoys Fromm dry as a treat and to aid in training good behavior. He has great bathroom habits and uses two large hoodless litter boxes with unscented, scoopable litter.
Larry will need a cat savvy home. Respectful older teens would be okay. Possibly an easy going cat with a slow introduction, no dogs. He gives very clear signals when he is feeling over stimulated and can get swatty and mouthy if you aren’t aware and respectful. Leaving Larry to burn off energy by entertaining himself with balls and such won’t be enough, he will need interactive human play and mental stimulation. He’s smart and would likely be fantastic at agility, clicker training, halter/leash walks because he’s self-confident and curious with great eye contact. He is very athletic! Being picked up is a work in progress. When interacting with Larry, it’s positive reinforcement only! He works well with redirecting inappropriate behaviors like swatting with a wand toy. With the right family he will continue to grow into an even more amazing cat. He will need a single room to start out in, often referred to as “basecamp” with slow introductions and expansion of space at his pace.
