GETTING TO KNOW ME
Joya is small, but mighty. Do not let her diminutive size fool you. She is a superhero who flies through the air like no other; tackles the highest swooping wand toy; launches over others to get to food. Do not ignore her or she will scold you for attention.
Big on personality, small on size makes no difference to Joya. She backs down to none of her companions despite being the smallest. She is very smart, curious and adventurous. When it is time for napping, she fits right into the crowd choosing to nap with others or even better on your lap or in the crook of your arm.
Not to be confused with a sphynx cat, Donskoy is quite the opposite. The hairless trait in Donskoy is derived from the mutation of a dominant gene. (In sphynx the hairless trait comes from a recessive gene. Although any cat can develop HCM, Donskoy are not predisposed to it like sphynx.)
Joya (and Donskoy in general) does need a fair amount of grooming. Their bodies produce a good amount of waxy oil. Bathing about once a month along with a quick wipe down with a warm, wet cloth a couple of times a week will help maintain their skin and keep furniture and fabric from staining. Be aware that they are sensitive to the sun and can experience sunburn. Nail beds and ears also quickly develop the waxy buildup and should be regularly cleaned as well. Body maintenance is more time-consuming than a cat with hair. Donskoy are NOT hypoallergenic.
Joya would do well with another confident cat and needs to have another playful cat in her new home. It is important for her to have another feline who can fly around with her when the moment strikes her. Being left alone for extended periods of time without human touch and attention is cruel for her. She should have lots of high and low places to explore, many snuggly blankets and plenty of good food.
Please do some reading on the Donskoy to better familiarize yourself with the breed. They are quite uncommon and rarely seen in rescue.
Joya is schedule fed twice per day with an Honest Kitchen breakfast and a mix of Nutro and ProPlan kibble for snacking. She has his choice of multiple litterboxes with unscented clumping litter that are scooped several times per day.
VETTING PROVIDED
To ensure ultimate health, Joya is spayed, rabies and FVRCP vaccinated, been tested negative for FELV/FIV, has been dewormed and treated for parasites, and is microchipped.
