GETTING TO KNOW ME
Fancy could not have a more appropriate name, just look at her! Fancy is a shy but sweet Purebred long-haired Selkirk Rex with brilliant gold eyes and a cute little black nose. Her hair is composed of deep black, brown and caramel throughout her soft bunny locks. Once comfortable, this petit little girl loves to flirt with people and will break into “elevator butt” from across the room when she is being spoken to. Fancy also has the sweetest little meows and will purr when accepting pets. She is very playful and loves to bat around a toy or sprint up the cat tree to the top shelf.
The ideal home for Fancy is one that is stable, calm, patient and experienced and will let Fancy move at her own pace. Fancy is not a demanding kind of kitty, but the more time you put into her, the more you will receive in return. She is not comfortable being carried around just yet and at this point prefers to lay next to people rather than on them. She does enjoy petting and full back rubs all the way to elevator butt. Starting out, she prefers to observe you from a safe distance, but she is easily swayed with some encouraging talk and once you get petting, she’ll keep rubbing up against you for more. She really loves her breakfast and dinner, which consists of Honest Kitchen rehydrated chicken or Churu and that is a great bonding opportunity for both you and Fancy. She currently loves the fresh and clean water from her stainless-steel water fountain.
Selkirk Rex are the original “bad hair day” kitties because of the random little ringlets that go every which way, individual curls, and luxurious dreadlocks. This coat demands to be felt and played with! A hair pick can be helpful in separating large clumps of curls or a wide tooth metal comb to care for the Selkirk Rex coat. Simply use your fingers in a gentle scratching motion to fluff up the curls and you’ll be able to keep the coat looking its best while making your cat very happy. These cats do not mat easily, but combing weekly is recommended to remove dead hair and ensure that mats do not form.
Fancy will need to start out in a “base camp” room in her new home, while she becomes familiar and comfortable with her new people and another potential cat. She will let you know when she’s ready to explore more of the home. Fancy does great with another gentle, docile cat like herself as she shows no reaction to the resident kitties in her foster home. Dogs would be too much for her and young children or a loud, active home would send her into hiding and is not appropriate. She is 100% with using her large, uncovered litter box filled with unscented clumping litter and is ready to find her furrrever home.
