GETTING TO KNOW ME

Wittle Willa as we affectionately call her for her tiny size. Willa never stops moving and always seems to be going places and up to something. When she’s on the move, her tail is curled up like a squirrel! She’s usually too busy to stop for cuddles and is the most independent of the siblings, but when she does, she too enjoys a lap or to be held and cradled like a baby. She will sleep in bed with you. Willa is a tiny girl weighing in at only 5 pounds and probably won’t get too much bigger judging by the size of her structure compared to her siblings. If you work from home, you can expect some interruptions and lap time. You can also expect a good amount of maintenance with this girl. She has a luxurious cottony coat, which will only get thicker with age, that will need combing in order to avoid matting. Luckily, Willa enjoys being combed with a long-tooth, stainless-steel comb. Her eyes have some drainage that need daily wiping. Willa is very good about eye wiping and having her nails trimmed.

Willa and her siblings get a variety of canned wet food (rabbit/chicken/turkey) for breakfast and dinner, along with free choice dry kitten food. Willa and her siblings are all masters at using the litter box using large, open boxes filled with low-dust and frangrance-free, clumping litter.

Fun fact about Willa. She is WILD about freeze-dried rabbit nibs (from Vital Essentials) and loves to push and chase them across the floor before eating them. This is a great ice-breaking game for her new home to play with her.

As with all her siblings, Willa is not a dominant kitten and is very respectful to the resident cats. Willa does prefer to keep with her siblings versus mingling with the resident cats. She will hiss at a resident cat out of fear and tries to avoid them. She has been raised with a small cat-friendly dog. She plays with people (loves the wand toy) and with the other kittens from her litter. Once comfortable (and expect this to take a bit of time), she will be an entertaining and joyful part of the family.

Willa loves a good game of rough and tumble play, thunderously chasing with her siblings up and down stairs and down halls, but she also loves to play on her own pushing springs and plastic rings across the floor. Kittens do best in pairs so her new home must have an age and energy appropriate feline companion. This would be another non-dominant, sweet kitty or two like herself. Or her new family might consider adopting one of her siblings. It is our recommendation that Willa be adopted with one of her siblings for best fit. They all get along fantastic and really enjoy one another’s company. A cat savvy kid 12+ would be okay. A dog that would respect and ignore her would likely be fine with slow introductions. Being on the docile and timid side, Willa would not thrive in a loud and busy household or with a child that would chase her.

Starting out in a room as basecamp with introductions and access to the home should be at a speed acceptable and safe for Willa and other pets in the home. Please do your research on proper introductions. It can often take up to 3 months for a cat to feel fully comfortable and integrate into a new family. Patience and understanding is of utmost importance.
