Selkirk Rex
Spoink
SPOINK, LITTON & ZARUA are precious purebred, Red Tabby Selkirk Rex kittens with inquisitive golden eyes. They joined us through our relationship with the Cat Fanciers Association, Breed Assistance and Breed Rescue Program. They were born on 3/10/22.
The Selkirk Rex are famous for their plush, curly hair and that has earned them the nickname “the cat in sheep’s clothing.” They require little grooming. A good combing (don’t use a brush) once a week and they’ll retain her silky waves. Don’t over-brush, which could lead to the frizzies. For bathing, don’t use a thick shampoo that doesn’t rinse well, as it will make the fur fall flat. Regular combing also will keep the hair from accumulating all over the house, as the Selkirk Rex does shed moderately, particularly in the summer when shedding is at its peak.
SPOINK is an extrovert who loves pets and attention from people. She is curious, sweet, cuddly, playful, lively, energetic, with a friendly temperament. She is the smallest of the three Rex kittens and can be easily spotted by her cute little piglet tail. All of the kittens are much too busy to be held or carried around at this time, but when they’re tired, they will seek you out for cuddles and rumbling loud purrs. They all enjoy the vertical height in their foster home.
Spoink is spayed and has her claws. She has had a veterinary wellness visit, tested negative for FELV/FIV, is wormed, vaccinated, and microchipped. She has perfect bathroom habits and uses an open litter box with unscented clumping litter. Spoink has a hearty appetite and is currently eating Honest Kitchen Dehydrated Chicken Cat Food.
Spoink’s ideal family would be one that likes a fun loving, attentive, active court jester of a cat. Her best home fit would be one where people are around to give her plenty of attention. PurrHarmony requires kittens to be adopted in pairs or go to homes with another young, compatible cat. The Rex kittens have been raised with the British Shorthair kittens and they all get along fabulously, so mixing and matching of the two breeds is a wonderful opportunity. Respectful, cat savvy kids 10 years and over would be okay. The Rex kittens are cautious but curious around a small dog and would likely be fine with a cat-friendly dog with proper introductions.
