Selkirk Rexes are not very common in rescue and when they do come along, what a treat for everyone. We are grateful to partner with the CFA Breeders Assist Program in bringing this sweet girl to you.

Olive is just that kind of treat! Softer than velvet, her luxurious coat is dense and plush. It is hard to resist burying your own cheeks into her soft body waves. Olive is a 6-year-old spayed female, who has her claws, weighs a pudgy 10 pounds with vetting that includes her spay, rabies and distemper vaccines, a negative test for FELV/FIV, worming, and microchipping. Olive had an eye injury as a kitten that has left her eye a bit runny and cloudy but needs no ongoing care.

Her black velvet coat and the tell-tale curly whiskers make her just SO cute. She starts off shy and a wallflower, so she can be a little slow to warm up. But she will trust and when she does, you won’t be able to hold back your smile. Although not a lap cat, Olive wants to near you. Rub her face, stroke her back and you will get a huge sigh of contentment, purrs, and a love nip when she is excited. A string toy is a favorite right along with batting small toys around. You will win her over in no time with a soft bed, some treats and wet food.

Olive would be best with a cat savvy, experienced owner. She does fine with gentle cats and respectful dogs who peacefully co-exist. We are requiring that Olive live in a home with at least one other cat to help her feel safe and confident as she came from a home with several kitties and tends to seek out other animals for companionship. She tends to hide when in unfamiliar areas, so starting off in a small room with a slow transition for a few weeks is a must! Older, respectful children (12 and up) would be fine with the understanding that she would ideally thrive in a quiet household.
