British Shorthair
Stanton & Montclair
Brothers from the same mother 😊
Stanton and Montclair are handsome blue British shorthair littermates who arrived to PurrHarmony via the CFA Breed Rescue Program. The boys are neutered, tested negative for FELV/FIV/HTW, are vaccinated against rabies and FVRCP, wormed and microchipped. Born in November of 2021, they are 9 months old, active and just a bit sassy.
The boys do NOT have to be adopted together but make a great pair for someone looking for two. Although littermates, there are some differences along with their similarities.
Stanton is the smaller guy currently weighing about 7.5 pounds (and growing). He is a bit more reserved around people. He has a thick, lush coat, all of his claws of course and has a bit more silvery tint to his coat. (Honestly, the boys are super hard to tell apart except by weight.)
Montclair is larger, about 8.5 pounds and growing. He does like to engage with his people and will often reach his paw out to grab your hand for pets. Be prepared to accommodate him or expect him to nibble on your hand until you do. (He doesn’t use his claws on you though.) He also loves to step onto your lap to disrupt any work you might be trying to get done!
The boys play well together and independently. Like most kittens, everything they do is hard. They play hard, eat hard, sleep hard. Neither likes to be restrained so nail cutting may take a couple of rounds or a second person. Their foster mom can do them single handedly but if you are not super experienced, it will get easier over time.
We are adopting each out at a special adoption fee because we have noted that each boy has redness in their gum lines that has not gone away. Their teeth are perfect. They do not need dentals. Our vet has monitored them for a couple of months now. Their new people should continue to monitor this carefully. We currently use an oral gel called Oratene and apply this daily to their gums. (It’s inexpensive and pretty easy to do.) Oral care is something that is critical to all cats. Ignoring the need for dentals may cause serious health issues. It is not uncommon for young cats to need regular dentals and require extractions. We want to be sure that their new families are committed to such care.
Stanton and Montclair are great as a pair together. If they are not adopted together, it would be preferred that they have an age-appropriate cat playmate. They likely would be fine with a respectful dog. They are not kid appropriate. Both need people who respect boundaries and are capable of handling cats who are wiggly and resistant to restraint.
Stanton and Montclair are fostered in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Each has a special kitten adoption fee of $200.
PurrHarmony does not transport or ship cats. New owners must pick up the new family member in person. When convenient, a foster parent may agree to meet the adopter at an airport convenient to the foster home.
PLEASE BE SURE TO REGULARLY CHECK YOUR EMAIL INCLUDING YOUR SPAM AND JUNK EMAIL BOXES. MOST OF OUR COMMUNICATION IS VIA EMAIL.
