GETTING TO KNOW ME

Marky is a charming, purebred, Persian who is a quirky, delightful, little guy. His coat is snow white and is so very soft. He is beautiful (and he knows it) with his tail held high and proud, as he prances around playing and seeking human attention. He has huge expressive copper eyes that will certainly have you oohing and aahing.

Marky loves everything about life! He plays happily by himself, with people and with his Persian cat roomies. Once acclimated to a new home he has the self-confidence and curiosity that he’d likely enjoy hikes in a cat backpack to be part of family adventures.

He loves a good game of play with his kitty friends but is not aggressive or dominant in his play style. More often than not, he’s focused on people. A feline companion would be nice but not a must if his family is home more than away and includes him in all of life’s adventures. A cat respectful child 10+ years would be okay. A dog that would respect and ignore him would likely be fine with slow introductions. Marky can be a bit nibbly when he’s feeling loving or super playful (no breaking of skin but can feel like a pinch). He loves toys of any kind but prefers interactive play with people over solitary play. Get ready to run through your house with reckless abandon while trailing a wand toy. After all that play, nothing is better than cat trees near windows to watch wildlife. He is a champ at using vertical and horizontal scratching posts. He is a very curious guy who likes to be where people are 24/7.  Marky Mark has a couple members in his Funky Bunch of Persian roomies that would be a great ready-made companion pair.

Marky is perfect with his litterbox, using a huge, open-style box with unscented clumping PetSmart Grass litter. He has grown wonderfully in the past months eating Honest Kitchen rehydrated food for breakfast and dinner. Fresh, clean water is always available from stainless steel and ceramic cat fountains. Marky LOVES drinking out of and playing in his fountain. He actually gets less wet in a fountain than a bowl. Proper litter box husbandry means one litter box per cat, plus an extra.

Starting out in a room as basecamp with introductions and access to the home should be at a speed acceptable and safe for Marky and other pets in the home. Please do your research on proper introductions. It can often take up to 3 months for a cat to feel fully comfortable and integrate into a new family. Patience and understanding are of utmost importance.

Persians don’t shed like domestic cats. Persian hair needs to be combed out because they cannot maintain their lovely long hair on their own. To prevent hairballs, and protect against matting, we recommend combing at minimum two or three times a week. These grooming sessions need not take longer than five or ten minutes and will keep the luscious coat looking its best. Nail trimming once a month is easy and a non-issue (No declawing, not ever)! A daily eye wipe with Eye Envy (purchased from Amazon) will keep the fur around his eyes clean and healthy.

VETTING PROVIDED

To ensure ultimate health, Marky is neutered, 3-year rabies and FVRCP vaccines, is FELV/FIV negative, has been dewormed. He has had corrective Stenotic nares surgery to allow him to breathe comfortably. He also just had a dental, was treated for parasites and is microchipped.
