GETTING TO KNOW ME
Mabel will stop you in your tracks with her stunning good looks and personality that will make you melt . She has a luxurious mostly white coat with patches of brown tabby with copper eyes. Her tail is a glorious plume of thick hair held high for all to see. Mabel has a mostly silky coat that will require moderate maintenance. At only 11 months old she will not mature completely until 2-3 years old. She is going to be drop dead gorgeous.
Mabel is a happy-go-lucky girl with a sparkle in her eyes! She plays by herself, with people and with the other Persians in her foster room. Once comfortable (and expect this to take a bit of time), she is going to require she be an integral part of the family.
She loves to play with her Persian friends but is not aggressive or dominant in her play style. Kittens and many adult cats do best in pairs so her new home must have an age and energy appropriate feline companion, or you may consider adopting one of her roomies. A cat savvy kid 10+ would be okay. A dog that would respect and ignore her would likely be fine with slow introductions. She loves toys of any kind but prefers interactive play with cats and people over solitary play. After playing nothing is better than cat trees near windows to watch wildlife and enjoy naps in. She’s a champ at using vertical and horizontal scratching posts to stretch. Keep in mind she is a very curious kitten and still learning so if she has an undesirable behavior, it’s easy to redirect her or teach her a desired behavior with positive reinforcement. Patience, tolerance and understanding are key with a curious kitten. No declawing, not ever! She absolutely adores people, and she sleeps next to or on top of a person most of the time while purring. If you aren’t giving her the attention she wants, she’ll sweetly stand in front of you and put her paws on your shoulders.
Mabel is perfect with her litter box, using a large, open-style box with unscented clumping PetSmart Grass litter. She has grown wonderfully in the past months eating Honest Kitchen rehydrated food for breakfast and dinner. Fresh, clean water is always available from fountains. Proper litter box husbandry means one litter box per cat, plus an extra.
Starting out in a room as basecamp with introductions and access to the home should be at a speed acceptable and safe for Mabel and other pets in the home. Please do your research on proper introductions. It can often take up to 3 months for a cat to feel fully comfortable and integrate into a new family. Patience and understanding are of utmost importance.
Persians don’t shed like domestic cats. Persian hair needs to be combed out because they cannot maintain their lovely long hair on their own. To prevent hairballs, and protect against matting, we recommend combing at minimum two or three times a week. These grooming sessions need not take longer than five or ten minutes and will keep the luscious coat looking its best. Nail trimming once a month is easy and a non-issue (No declawing, not ever)! A daily eye wipe with Eye Envy (purchased from Amazon) will keep the fur around his eyes clean and healthy.
VETTING PROVIDED
To ensure ultimate health, Mabel had an exam, spayed, tested negative for FELV/FIV, FVRCP and rabies vaccinated, completed parasite protocol, and is microchipped.
