GETTING TO KNOW ME
Dallas is a character! More than the average cat. He will need a very specific family that will welcome him and all of his uniqueness and quirks. Dallas longs for love, attention and petting but hates to be picked up. That’s okay, I bet you might not like being picked up either. He will often head butt, meow and paw at you to get your attention. Starting him off in a “base camp” room and taking introductions slowly is a must.
Dallas is a quirky little guy for sure. Let’s get into it. When he joined us, he had a blown eardrum with infections that had resulted in a head tilt. The ear infections are gone and the tilt may diminish as the ear drum continues to heal or it may stay tilted. There is no longer any infection and our vets say no additional treatment is needed for his ear. If you have access to veterinary acupuncture or physical therapy, that might be helpful for the tilt. He had some skin issues which have been taken care of, but his ear tips and tail are well … more naked like a Sphynx cat than hairy like a Persian. He has a dense cottony coat and will need regular grooming and some light eye cleaning. Sanitary shaves to keep his backside tidy is also a must.
Dallas is in love with his breakfast and dinner of Honest Kitchen dehydrated chicken and drinks happily out of a stainless steel water fountain. A Churu treat will start you out on the right foot if you’d like a tool for bribery. Because of the head tilt, he’s a ground dweller but he loves cat beds and will get into the lowest level of the cat tree. Stairs are not something he has been able to navigate. He loves it when people sit or lay on the floor by him and fawn over him. He would love the company of another easy-going sweet cat like himself or a dog that would ignore him would be no problem. Kids over 12 years that are cat savvy would be okay. A relaxed, more chill home is a must. A large uncovered litter box with a lightly clumping, non sticky litter (like World’s Best) is what he currently uses.
We know his perfect family is out there and ready to love him just like he is!!!
