LEO is a handsome 5 year old Chartreux that has all of his claws and weighs approximately 8 lbs. His body is very characteristic of his breed with a solid compact body, bright copper eyes, and a dense and wooly double blue coat.
He’s been given a clean bill of health, testing negative for FELV/FIV, neutered, and current on his rabies and distemper. He’s also been microchipped and will be registered by PurrHarmony with the adopter’s contact information. This dude is pretty laid back, enjoying a session with the cat dancer toy or red laser dot, but has yet to show his foster mom the zoomies. He prefers to nap on the bed, sit with his person, and absolutely ADORES to be brushed with a silicone scalp brush. He sees the brush and comes rushing over for a beautification session. The teeth of the brush collect any shedding hair, which is helpful because this breed sheds a fair amount.

Once he feels secure in his surroundings, he will explore and eventually end up on the people bed. He expects that at bedtime you make room for him on the people bed to enjoy a pre-sleep skritch. Eventually he settles down with his plump little rump touching some part of your body. He prefers to make his own decisions on where to be and when. He tolerates being picked up but doesn’t enjoy being carried around and is learning to get his nails trimmed. He enters his carrier when needed without causing a fuss, and will briefly tolerate an eye wipe for the occasional eye boogie.

Leo uses his litterbox 100% of the time, but would do best with higher sided box. He’s very diligent on covering his deposits and sometimes will get a little overzealous getting some of the litter outside his box. He occasionally will use his sisal scratching cone and has not shown interest in scratching up anything else. Also typical of this breed he is quiet, but will run his motor occasionally when feeling extra happy.

Leo has a kitty roommate and does just fine with them but isn’t bonded to them. Applicants that currently have kitties are welcome to apply provided that they are 100% committed to a slow and proper introduction between the cats. Leo hasn’t met a dog while in our care however given his laid back personality, it’s possible he would do well with a laid back dog that didn’t pester him. Homes with older, respectful, and savvy children should be able to navigate his initial shyness with patience will be needed to allow him to come out of his shell in his new home at his speed.
