GETTING TO KNOW ME
Isn’t Bella Bean just darling with her fairy-like, whimsical, little face? Once comfortable, she’s sure to enchant you. To start off, Bella Bean will be a bit cautious, taking it all in before getting comfortable in her new home but once comfortable she’s quite interactive and enjoys being part of a family. She’ll follow you around, chatting with you, asking for pets and playtime with a wand toy(she will kill the toy and run away with it). Once playtime is over, she enjoys perching in a cat tree placed by a window and will bird watch till she falls asleep.
Bella won’t take long to acclimate as she’s pretty easy-peasy. She really enjoys being part of a family that includes her in daily life. An older child, respectful of cats, that will run through the house with a wand toy would get high marks from Bella. If you have a very laid back cat that wouldn’t bother Bella Bean, that might be acceptable. She’d be happiest as an only cat as long as she wasn’t spending too much time alone. In the event you’re looking for a work from home assistant, Bella is your girl! A loud, crazy, super active house would be more than she’d be able to handle. But she does enjoy a person or family that will actively play with her.
Being a flat-faced girl, she’ll need the usual eye cleaning. Typical of the breed her coat is very thick, and regular combing is encouraged to maintain her coat. This breed does shed quite a bit so make sure you’re okay with “kitty glitter”. Trimming back nails isn’t a problem, she’s just a bit wiggly.
Bella Bean is great with her litter box and currently uses two open top litter boxes with unscented scoopable litter. She is schedule fed wet or dry food for breakfast and dinner and eats off a flat bowl to accommodate her flat face and whiskers. Exotic shorthairs have a tendency to get too chunky, so free feeding isn’t advised. She has a water fountain for clean, fresh water.
Starting out in a bedroom or home office as basecamp with introductions and access to the home should be at a speed acceptable and safe for Bella Bean and other pets in the home.
Bella Bean was previously front paw declawed and exhibited foot pain. As part of our commitment to declawed cats, her feet had x-rays, and it was determined she’d benefit from a declaw repair. Her declaw repair has been completed and she’s feeling great.
