GETTING TO KNOW ME
Sexy Rexy, as we like to call him, is one spectacular boy. With his wavy, lamb-like luxurious coat, Rex will charm the socks right off his human. Besides his dashing good looks, this guy has intelligence and unbridled curiosity to boot.
Be prepared to have lots of interaction with Rex. He will be where you are and will want to know everything that you are doing. That means he will help you fold laundry, check out what you might be cooking, and assist you in going through your mail and putting away your groceries. Countertops, tables, shelves are all child’s play for Rex. If it is a nap in the warm sun, please join him, and he will snuggle up next to you, on your fuzzy blanket or on the ottoman in front of you.
Do not bother to buy him flimsy little gadgets like wand toys. He will shred them faster than a terrier and then look for something more engaging, such as track-ball towers, food puzzles or even a simple empty egg carton with treats or kibble hidden in the holes. He likes “Greenies” treats and his favorite game with his foster mom is to stand on his hind legs and reach up with those long fingers to grab one from a tong! He also enjoys Churro or Tiki Kat Stix as treats.
When it is down time, the top of cat tree overlooking outside activity and filled with sun is this guy’s dream. At night he would love to sleep in bed with you on your legs. Rex seems to acclimate well to new environments and will make himself right at home when he is recognized as the king of the castle.
Rex prefers kibble over wet food and has been perfect with his large, open litter boxes filled with clumping, unscented litter. A water fountain will make him happy. (Otherwise plan to keep your bathtub or sink dripping for him.) He tolerates having his manicures and ear cleanings. He is not a huge fan of eye wiping but if rewarded with Greenies, will be fine.
Rex would love a home where his humans are around a lot and want to include him in family activities. He would be great with a retiree or a couple, as an only kitty, in an apartment or a house. Children must be older and cat savvy. Dogs are not recommended. He has never lived with another cat to the best of our knowledge. Slow introductions with a chill cat friend might be fine.
